If you think that the flu season has been particularly bad this year, you wouldn’t be alone! We’ve compiled a few steps from our most recent newsletter to help you maintain your physical health this winter, and it’s still not too late to finish the winter on a high note!
First, there are several warning signs for the flu: fever, headache, extreme tiredness, dry cough, sore throat, runny/stuffy nose, muscle aches, and stomach symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
Next, some basic prevention measures: getting a flu shot (not too late to get one!), covering your mouth when coughing, keeping hands clean with soap & water or hand sanitizer, avoiding others who are sick, and cleaning & disinfecting objects and surfaces.
Lastly, one of the most important prevention measures is maintaining good nutrition and exercise habits. This is particularly important as it helps strengthen the immune system. If your health & nutrition habits feel like they are lacking this year, you could be more vulnerable to getting the flu, or other illnesses that like to spread during the winter.
We can help with the physical activity part; we have professionals who understand physiology, kinesiology, and injury rehabilitation, and they can help get you back to peak physical condition.
